Welcome to the Immunology and Allergy Nurse Group (IANG). The group was established in 1992 as a professional body to represent and act as the voice of nurses working within the field of Immunology and more recently Allergy. The group was formerly one of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Special Interest Groups but it was decided by a unanimous vote of our members in 2012 to become an independent organisation.
Alongside the expansion of the speciality and exciting developments in Immunology and Allergy, membership of the group has now grown to over 200 members, with a wealth of experience and expertise.
The group aims to provide a strong network and mutual support to all of its members, enabling opportunities to discuss professional and clinical issues and consider experiences from centres across the UK and Ireland.
The introduction of an electronic data base of members in recent years has greatly facilitated communication among the group’s members providing a framework for even closer collaboration and discussion surrounding the implementation of evidenced based standards of care for our patient group.
The group’s Annual Conference, which includes the Annual General Meeting, is hosted by a different centre each year and is supported by generous sponsorship from our industry colleagues. The Conference enables members to network and share ideas, knowledge, experience, information, clinical audit and research results and news of developments within our fields of practice.
We are privileged to attract a wide variety of speakers and also aim to provide a supportive environment and positive encouragement to those of our members who are less experienced at giving presentations.
The group is proud to work in collaboration with patient and professional groups such as the UK Primary Immunodeficiency Network (UK PIN), the International Nurses Group for Immunodeficiencies (INGID) and the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI).
We hope you find membership of the group valuable and hope to meet you in person soon.
Yours SincerelyThe Board
